Recent work

It's been a while since my last blog post, but I've been very busy!

I am now managing websites for several clients. For those that are WordPress websites, I ensure their themes and plugins are kept up-to-date. For all websites, I also ensure that any required website amendments are made, as well as monitoring their SEO performance using a combination of Google Analytics and SEO SiteCheckup.

Google Analytics, for those of you that don't know, is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. SEO SiteCheckup is a search engine optimisation toolbox that provides analysis and monitoring tools for all your SEO needs. Personally, I love it!

In addition to general website management and SEO monitoring, I am also managing one of my clients' blog post optimisation using the Yoast SEO Plugin for WordPress as well as their Google Ads campaigns. Google Ads (formerly, Google AdWords) is Google's online advertising platform. It allows you to pay to display a brief advertisement (or service offering, product listing, video content, or to generate mobile application installs) within the Google ad network to web users. It is a 'pay per click' system, so you are only charged when someone actaully clicks on your Ad.

My biggest job over the last few months, however, was a complete website development in WordPress, including the setup of a custom WordPress theme. The website had already been designed and the client was looking for a developer to bring the site to life. The website was to tie in with the client's new children's magazine, Brilliant Brainz. Aimed at 6-12 year olds, the design was wonderfully colourful!

The site evolved somewhat from the initial design brief during the course of the development. But, I relish a challenge and am pleased to report we launched the site and moved into a business as usual development plan. I am providing ongoing SEO monitoring and monthly development time to the client as well as ad hoc development time as and when required.

I have also recently volunteered my services to an RSPCA local branch, to assist with managing their WordPress website as the current volunteer is stepping down. We are still discussing the requirements and arranging the handover of work and I look forward to providing you with an update in a future post.

As ever, I'd love to hear from you, so drop me a line over on Twitter!
